Welcome to Yew Tree

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Yew Tree Primary School website. Our school motto is ‘Working together to achieve our best’ and it plays a major part in all that we do.

Here at Yew Tree Primary School we welcome children, their parents and carers into a friendly, happy and hardworking environment where respect for others, positive attitudes towards work and behaviour are encouraged and nurtured. Yew Tree is a school where all children are valued and where all staff work hard to help every child reach his or her full potential. Children work in a very caring, stimulating school environment and respond well to the schools positive discipline policy.

We believe that people achieve more when they feel happy, secure and valued. Our philosophy is to educate the whole person; we want the children to enjoy their learning and we have high expectations for their academic, creative and social progress. Team spirit is very much part of the ethos here and there is high expectations of all staff, pupils and parents to work cooperatively, to make a positive contribution to the life of the school and to give their best.

There is a focused commitment on “Teaching and Learning”, which includes, staff, families and the community and we are proud of what we do. There is an emphasis on mutual support through which we develop our shared professionalism. We are reflective and adaptive in our practise. This is a safe place to make mistakes – making mistakes is a good way to learn! We are happy to try out new ideas, because we want to ensure that every child succeeds.

All members of staff here at Yew Tree Primary School are committed to providing a broad, balanced and relevant education for all the children within a supportive and caring environment. They seek to build the self-esteem of all through a policy of equal opportunity. All staff work hard to ensure that relationships throughout the school are based on mutual trust and respect as the school strongly believes that it is through secure relationships that the children respond with positive attitudes and understanding of their work and to others.

With Best Wishes
