ADMISSION OF CHILDREN INTO SCHOOL
Early Year Lead: Miss J Carter
Parents are legally required to present their children for education at the start of the term immediately after the child’s 5th birthday. However in Tameside it is Council policy to provide Education from the September of the school year in which the child is 5 years old. All of these children are eligible to begin school in September.
NURSERY & RECEPTION
Open Evenings are arranged for the parents of new entrants in Nursery and Reception during June and July. Pre-school visits will be arranged for Nursery and Reception children at the beginning of the September half term. Details will be given at the open evenings.
Admissions into Nursery are made over the first half term, so that only a few children are admitted at a time. Admissions into Reception are on a part-time basis for the first 2 weeks of the September half term. This enables the children to adjust gradually to school routine.
The Infant and Junior (The Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2) operate a system whereby all parents are able to see their child's teacher every term. Parents are, of course welcome to come and discuss a particularly pressing problem, when the need arises, outside the times set aside for regular consultation. Reports are sent out by teachers at the end of the Summer Term.
